San Jose Fountain at Fairmont Hotel

A Water Oasis for San Jose

Water columns rise 5 to 7 feet in varying rhythms across a breathtaking water sculpture composed of granite paving stones and glass blocks laid out in a dramatic and breathtaking fashion.
This is the Plaza de Cesar Chavez, a 2.2-acre park in downtown San Jose, California, located between the Fairmont Hotel and the Art Museum.  San Francisco lighting designer Luminae Souter developed the lighting for both the fountain and the park.  From winding paths and seating areas to the spectacular walk through fountain, Luminae Souter used a variety of state-of-the-art metal-halide and tungsten-halogen light sources, and they called on Jeannette Specialty Glass to deliver the durable and elegant glass needed to properly distribute the light and compliment the memorable designs.
The Plaza is steeped in history, having been established in 1797 and in use ever since, making it the oldest outdoor public space in California.
